"Angels and Insects," a 1995 romantic drama directed by Philip Haas, stars Mark Rylance, Patsy Kensit, and Kristin Scott Thomas, based on A. S. Byatt's novella "Morpho Eugenia." The film follows naturalist William Adamson as he returns to Victorian England, staying with his patron Sir Harold Alabaster after losing his possessions in a shipwreck. Employed to catalog specimens and teach Sir Harold's children about natural sciences, William becomes entangled in the lives of the aristocratic family, particularly forming a bond with the governess Matty Crompton.
