Rough translation… “In April (i.e. springtime/a period of renewal), go by the river to visit descendants in the cemetery.” The relief depicts the practice of visiting dead ancestors in the cemetery during the annual period of renewal every spring. The scene shown is of the path taken which transverses through the vibrant & lively outdoor marketplace by the river; a stark contrast to the solemn cemetery. The original relief sold not too long ago for 46 million RMB (about $8 million USD). It is at least 80 years old and one of a maximum of 10 replicas made of the original. Its estimated value is just south of $200K. 80 years old.
