Uncommon Valor is a 1983 American action war film directed by Ted Kotcheff and starring Gene Hackman, Fred Ward, Reb Brown, Randall "Tex" Cobb, Robert Stack, Patrick Swayze, Harold Sylvester, and Tim Thomerson. Hackman plays a former U.S. Marine colonel who assembles a rag-tag team to rescue his son, believed to be held in Laos after the Vietnam War. Despite receiving no help from the U.S. government, Colonel Rhodes and his team of Vietnam War veterans and allies, including a demolitions expert, a "tunnel rat" with PTSD, a machine gunner, and helicopter pilots, embark on a mission to find and rescue Rhodes' missing son.
